Frequently Asked Questions
I was in the majority when the inhabitants of Blissfield voted down building a new building for the police and village officials. Why is that vote being ignored and why does the council cont
After the bond issue for the Village Office project was voted down, the Village Council authorized a survey of Village residents to try to find out why. The results of that survey showed that over 67% of residents agreed that the Village needed a new Village Office, but that the location, parking situation, and cost of that proposed site by Ellis Park were not appropriate.
The Village Council is currently discussing the project because the need for the project is still there. The current building is not handicapped accessible and is simply too small, and those problems still exist. To try to get a better picture of what options (if any) the public would support, the Village will be hosting a public forum on this project (as well as the US223 streetscape project).
That forum will be held at 7pm, Monday, May 4, at the meeting room of the Village Library. The Village Office project will be discussed from 7pm to 8pm, and the US223 streetscape project will be discussed from 8pm to 9pm. Everyone is welcome.

I have ancestors from Blissfield and Adrian ca. 1853. Can I find any obituaries from the area online?
The Village does not maintain any obituary databases, on-line or otherwise. On-line subscription sites, such as
www.ancestry.com, may have some in their obituary databases. You may also want to contact the local newspapers to inquire about any such databases they might maintain. They are the Blissfield Advance (
www.blissfieldadvance.com) and the Daily Telegram (
www.lenconect.com).

one of our neighbors put a pool in this summer and there's nothing blocking the ladder. What are the rules for pools..........
Blissfield does have some rules specifically for swimming pools. First, in order to be classified as a
swimming pool, it must be capable of holding at least 2' of water, and be designed for folks to swim in it. Second, the pool must either have a 4'-tall fence (with a lockable gate) around it if an in-ground pool, or if an above-ground pool, it must be at least 4' tall, with a lockable ladder. Third, it must be in a rear yard, be at least 10' from any buildings on the lot, and at least 4' from any lot lines. Last, they do require permits, so please call the Village Office at (517) 486-4347 before you put in a pool.

Does Blissfield have a town dump? and if so what do they take. Some construction debris?Home improvement project type.
No, Blissfield does not operate a town dump. Trash collection in the Village is performed by private contractors, and they take the refuse they collect to facilities of their own.
